Say hello to Roxy the Boxer — a 2018 Peugeot Boxer and the latest member of the daydream crew.

After 3 amazing years with Reggie, it was time to take things to the next level. I’d travelled further than I ever thought possible with my first campervan, covering the UK from John O’Groats to Lands End, not to mention driving through 18 different countries on a 9,000 mile epic European roadtrip, but there were always limitations that held me back.

As the possibility of vanlife and extended travel was becoming more of a reality than a day dream, I wanted to have a van that made it possible.

Next Chapter: Meet Roxy

After saying goodbye to Reggie, my much-loved first campervan, I started searching for my next home on wheels. I knew I wanted something a little bigger (but not so big that it would be a pain to park), with room to stand up, a comfortable spot to work from, and most importantly… a hot shower!

The moment I came across Roxy, I had a feeling she was the one. A freshly converted Peugeot Boxer with a smart, spacious layout and everything I’d been looking for — and more.

I arranged a video call with the seller, followed by an RAC mechanical check for peace of mind. Then came a long day trip to Crawley for an in-person viewing. After a few small upgrade requests, we agreed on a price and Roxy was mine.

I asked for a few extra features to be added before collection:

• An opening window on one of the rear barn doors
• A vent in the shower room
• A second leisure battery
• A 12V socket for a fridge
• Coat hooks (because the little things matter!)

Roxy was ready to hit the road — and I couldn’t wait to get started.

Making Roxy Adventure Ready

Roxy came with a brilliant layout and solid foundations — the kind of setup that makes long-term travel not just possible, but seriously comfortable.

That said, getting her fully kitted out took some thought. I had to figure out where everything would live, what I’d need day to day, and how to make the most of the storage without turning the van into a jumble of boxes and rattling cupboards.

First up: the essentials. Although Roxy came with a proper shower room, there was no toilet — so that was an easy one to tick off my list. I’d asked the seller to fit a 12V socket in the storage under the bench so I could add a portable fridge, so that was another quick win.

Then came the real puzzle: storage. There are loads of clever compartments throughout the van, but making them work for everyday life on the road meant finding smart ways to organise things. I stocked up on hanging organisers, cargo nets, baskets, food containers, and shelving — and carefully mapped out what would go where.

There were a few other road trip essentials to tick off too — things like an electric hook-up cable, levelling ramps, a portable hose, and a spare gas canister.

Finally, I wanted to make sure Roxy felt homely and private. I installed a curtain rail to separate the cab, added a blackout curtain, and found the perfect roller blind for the side door. A cosy rug, soft cushions, and a warm blanket brought that extra bit of comfort and personality — simple touches that make a big difference when you’re living on wheels.

With Roxy fully set up and feeling like home, I was finally ready to hit the road again. This time with more freedom, comfort, and curiosity than ever before.
